Ard's
Anderson's Actions
LATEST: While
most of us watched Ireland miraculously defeat Holland in the World
Cup qualifiers, only a few managed it down to the Showgrounds on
Saturday to the match which Ards refused to have played on Friday
night. In any event the match was unsavoury and the actions
afterwards worse. Ards managed to beat Newry 1-0 on their own turf,
but it is reported that former 'Red Devil' and former Director of
Football at Newry, Trevor Anderson gestured toward the Newry fans on
his exit from the pitch. Remarks were also traded between Newry fans
and the referee. Read Jimmy's excellent account of the events here.
Armagh
City have foiled Newry Town hopes in the first round of the new-look
League Cup. Armagh who defeated Newry last season in the final of
the Mid-Ulster Cup beat Newry 2-0 in this first CIS Cup match.
Newry's influential mid-fielder Robbie Casey has resumed matches
following an injury which originally had him ruled out until
Christmas. Robbie has now played in the Reserves matches and for a
short spell against Armagh.
